Walt Gray’s Annual Motorcycle Ride
for the Make-A-Wish Foundation
Walt Gray has been a prominent figure on the television airwaves in the Sacramento Valley media front since 1988 when he arrived from Rhode Island to take on the hurried and hectic schedule of the Sports Director position at KCRA-TV Channel 3 our local NBC affiliate. Walt moved on to reporting as a field correspondent and from there to his position as a co-anchor on the early morning show. Walt now sits as the news anchor for the prime time evening news at KCRA-TV. Walt is married to Monica Woods, the head meteorologist for rival ABC affiliate KXTV-10 in Sacramento and they have three cute, energetic and precocious children.
What will become in the warmer summer months of 2011 — Walt Gray’s 9th Annual Motorcycle Ride to benefit the “Make-A-Wish Foundation” — will be another upcoming event that I will support passionately on behalf of my friend Walt Gray and his dedicated willingness to give back for What Matters Most! Walt and I have been acquainted since his second annual event in 2004 which was held in Sutter Creek, California. Walt’s charitable inclination was spawned into a reality in 2003, when openhanded supporters had rallied together — many clad in leather; or sleeveless t-shirts and others tank tops were found sitting astride their chosen steel ponies of spirit freeing adventure. This band of charitable supporters were most willing facilitators of benevolence for those whose journey on their life’s path had been set in place with a most unfortunate and unwanted expiration date of lost hope and despair of brighter days which so many of us take for granted. Walt’s heart of a champion and one of an ultimate giver has continued to motivate those reveling supporters to annually dig into their empathetic pockets and lend financial support to what will hopefully eclipse the half million dollar mark in charitable donations in the summer ahead.
